Ropa en el tendedero

Autor: Thiago de Novaes Pankará e Ana Selia Novaes Pankará

Ilustrador: Bárbara Quintino

"As she washed each garment, Doña Florência described its owner. In a fun way, she talked about the materials or equipment the person used in their work and the roles they played. Then, she asked the children to guess what profession it could be, encouraging them to act it out on the spot. This led to beautiful stories and playful activities about various professions."

Hello, I am Ana Selia, Thiago's mother. Together, we have published several children's and young adult books on Indigenous and sertanejo themes. Our people, the Pankará, are from Carnaubeira da Penha, in the state of Pernambuco. I believe that education is revolutionary. In addition to being a writer, I am also a teacher. I enjoy using active and creative methodologies, always with great care and love. Currently, I am a professor at the Federal Institute of the Sertão Pernambucano, but I have also taught children and teenagers. Thanks to my students, art has always been a part of my life, as it helps us reflect on ourselves and the world.

Hello, I am Thiago, Ana Selia's son. I am a young man passionate about many things, including my family and my culture. But amidst all this, I am also a Medical student at the Federal University of the Southern Border in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul, and a writer interested in scientific research, the caatinga, Indigenous health, and literature. Since childhood, I have enjoyed drawing, coloring, and writing, so my life's vocation has mainly revolved around these things: promoting health (through Medicine) and literature (through my books) for people.

¿Quién lo ilustró?

Bárbara Quintino

Bárbara Quintino is from Minas Gerais, an illustrator, and a lover of good pão de queijo. From a young age, she discovered herself in the world of colors and textures, with colored pencils, paper, and crayons scattered all over the house. As she grew, she ventured into various paths, but it was during her studies in Architecture and Urbanism that she truly immersed herself in the world of drawing.

Currently, she works in visual communication, animation projects, and mainly in children's books and stories that, in some way, intertwine with her own and those of many Black people. She expresses herself through strong layers of colors, feelings, and textures, always with great care, through her illustrations.
