"Let's go for a walk in the forest while Mrs. Jaguar isn't here. Are you ready, Mrs. Jaguar?"
The popular game "Vamos passear no bosque" gets a truly Brazilian twist in this bilingual Maraguá–Portuguese book. Celebrating our rich biodiversity, instead of woods and wolves, this story takes us through the wonders of the Amazon rainforest and introduces the mighty jaguar. Lia Minápoty Aripunãguá was born in 1989 in the former village of Novo Horizonte Yãbetue’y, within the cultural "belt" of the Maraguá people. She belongs to the Çukuyêguá clan by birth and the Aripunãguá clan by marriage. Lia is the author of five other books, ranging from children's to young adult literature.
She gives lectures alongside her husband, fellow writer Yaguarê Yamã, where she shares stories rooted in the Amazonian tradition, in addition to working closely with Maraguá leadership. Besides writing, she is also a homemaker, a role she takes pride in, recognizing that domestic work is just as important, honorable, and essential as any other profession.
Taisa Borges is an artist and illustrator born in São Paulo. She studied painting at Belas Artes and fashion design at Studio Berçot in France. After working in the fashion industry, she found her true passion in children's literature upon returning to Brazil.
She has published seven original books and a graphic novel, in addition to illustrating works by various authors. In 2006, she received the "Best Picture Book" award from the National Foundation for Children's and Youth Books (FNLIJ). She has been nominated three times for the Jabuti Award and was a finalist for the HQMix Award.
Her work was featured in the exhibition "Brazil: Countless Threads, Countless Tales," curated by FNLIJ at the Bologna International Children's Book Fair, which traveled across several European countries, representing Brazil.
