Every Animal with Its Own Whim

,

Author: Carlos Machado

Illustrator: Geraldo Valério

"Chat in the swamp— croak... croak... croak...— old man, your machine needs grease. You think so?— croak."

Each animal with its own whim. The spider, with art and craft, weaves its web. The sloth, without hurry, sleeps and never gets upset. The frog jumps in the swamp while the rooster puffs up its chest and lets out its crow. And the penguin, with its tragic air, doesn't take off its magician's costume. Some animals shout and make a fuss, others don't even whisper. Each animal with its own whim. These are some of the animals that inhabit Carlos Machado's book of poems, whose well-constructed rhymes sharpen the young reader's attention and taste for words, creating surprising images alongside Geraldo Valério's large and geometric illustrations, which seem to leap off the page in a true explosion.
